“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
— Deuteronomy 29:29 NKJV
There are some things I just don’t understand... and there are days when I look at the mess of this world, the heartbreak, the unanswered prayers—or the prayers that were answered in ways I

never would have chosen—and I find myself wanting an explanation. I want to know why.
Then I read this verse, tucked near the end of a long speech Moses gave to the Israelites. A speech about covenant and obedience and consequences, “The secret things belong to the Lord our God…” A quiet reminder we won’t know everything. God has kept some things to Himself. Not because He’s withholding, but because He’s God. And I’m not.
Here’s the part that moves me most: "but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever…”
What has God shown me? What truth has He made clear? What part of His heart has He written into His Word and my life? Those things—those gifts of revelation—they are mine. They are ours. And not just to marvel at or ponder, but to live out. “…that we may do all the words of this law.”
The revealed things aren’t just for information—they’re for transformation. For obedience. For walking forward, even when we don’t have all the answers. Today, I’m holding this tension: trusting God with the mysteries, and clinging to what He has shown me. I’m leaning into the known things: His faithfulness, His goodness, His Word, His presence and my desire is to pass those down to my children—not just in words, but in how I live.
If I wait to obey until I understand everything, I’ll never move. If I place my trust in the One who does understand everything…then I can walk forward in peace—even with some questions still unanswered. 🤷🏻♀️ 🙏🏻 💪🏻 ☺️
