OK so today I did a lot of research on all the meaning behind anointing oils. Why did people use anointing oils? What is the meaning symbolically to the use of anointing oil and the Holy Spirit. They did not the Holy Spirit then like we have and KNOW him today. I’ve been in this space with the Lord, where I feel like He is impressing upon me more than ever before how much we (I) under utilize the reality that the Holy Spirit is with us and in us. Here are some of the things I learned as I did some research:
Anointing oil is considered a symbolic representation of god's presence, power and the Holy Spirit.
Anointing oil is often used to set someone or something apart as sacred, signifying blessing, healing and divine favor.
Anointing oil is considered a tangible way to connet with the spiritual realm, calling on divine intervention.
The question playing on replay in my mind is "How am I not activating the gift of the Holy Spirit and the Power we have been given? Where does the Lord want me to activate this gift and His presence in me and with me more?!" I keep thinking about what Jesus said when He ascended to heaven telling us we would do "even greater things."
