Numbers 2: It's ALL About Baby Steps

Today, I’m celebrating just how far my relationship with the Lord has come. I’m sitting here in the Old Testament, reading through all the order and specificity of how God instructed Moses to set up camp, arrange the tribes, and lead His people. And you know what? I love it.

But I get it—if you’re reading through this for the first time, it might feel like a lot of rules and logistics. Maybe even… overwhelming? I’ve been there.

“But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel, just as the Lord commanded Moses.” – Numbers 2:33 (NKJV)

I know what it’s like to wonder if any of this applies to life today. But the more I’ve leaned in, the more I’ve realized that all this order and structure isn’t just about rules—it’s a window into who our

God is. He’s not some distant figure in the sky making demands; He’s a God of intention, of purpose, of deep care for His people.

So today, I want to celebrate you—especially if you’re pushing through the reading plan, even on days when it feels dry or confusing. I know that baby steps in the Word might not feel groundbreaking, but they are precious.

I was thinking about my niece, who’s just starting to take her first wobbly steps. She’s unsure, unsteady, figuring it out one tiny movement at a time. And you know what? Every time she takes a step, my sister delights in her. She cheers, she claps, she encourages. And it hit me—that’s exactly how God sees us in our faith journey.

My growth hasn’t always been big or perfect, but just like my niece, I’m moving forward. And

God isn’t standing there with a clipboard critiquing my pace—He’s celebrating, guiding, and cheering me on. And I believe He’s doing the same for you.

So if today’s reading felt like a lot, take a deep breath. Keep going. Keep stepping. Because this journey? It’s worth it. And this space, this community diving into the Word together? It’s so sweet.

Wherever you are in your journey—wobbly steps or steady strides—know that God is delighted in you. 💛
