Oh my goodness as I read this today: ““Command the Israelites and say to them: Be sure to present to me at its appointed time my offering and my food as my food offering, a pleasing aroma to me.”
Numbers 28:2 CSB
Immediately, I thought about the woman who poured her entire jar of oil over Jesus’ feet, wiping them with her hair.
Her offering was extravagant, elaborate, over-the-top, right? But when you look at all the sacrifices God originally required—the burnt offerings, grain offerings, drink offerings—it actually makes perfect sense. Worship in essence is about giving something to the Lord that truly costs us.
Thankfully because of Jesus, sacrifice Is no longer the name of the game. He became the ultimate sacrifice. His greatest desire is me—my time, my attention, my presence. It feels beyond special. As a mama who just sent two to college, quality time means everything. My love language was never quality time but the older I get the more I appreciate it and value It the most.
As I think about my life and habits prior to reading the Word daily, I often brought Jesus my

leftovers? My practice of time with the Lord was anything but consistent and only a priority on and off. I often rushed through my time with Him, distracted, simply checking a box.
The woman with the oil? She held nothing back. She poured out everything because she knew Jesus was worth it. I want my life to model holding nothing back. I might treat my time differently now. I can definitely say It's a priority but Is It an extravagant act of worship?
He certainly deserves it!!!!!!!
