“God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.”

That has certainly been true in my life. Hi, my name is Kami and I’m a mom of three beautiful children who are my entire world: Landon, Colton and Skyler. We are from Southwest Michigan, and I can honestly say I am living out my dreams while fulfilling my calling. You see, all of my life (or for as long as I could remember) I had wanted to teach and coach basketball. After graduating college, my big day had finally arrived! I had my first “big girl job” — my dream job — I was a teacher and a girl’s varsity basketball coach. This was my moment and I felt like I had hit the jackpot.

All my dreams were coming true and plans were falling in line! Problem was, a few weeks later when I got that first paycheck, it was far from what I had hoped. In fact, I couldn’t believe how little it was; even with coaching basketball, this income wasn’t going to cut it. I didn’t do anything about it then, but a seed was planted. I honestly had no idea what was coming, yet God was preparing something and I am so thankful He had a greater plan for my life than the one I had planned for myself.

Reality hit in a BIG way when I got the news I was expecting. Looking back now, I can see that this was going to happen, but when it actually did, I was honestly caught off guard. I felt caught between my dreams of teaching and coaching and my desire to stay at home as a mom. My mom was a work-from-home mom. She did daycare in our home until we were in grade school, then started cleaning homes to have more flexibility. She was the BEST mom and I wanted to offer the same to my babies!

The gravity of our financial situation (or lack thereof) really set in as I held my first born, Landon, in my arms. I took a sabbatical the year Landon was born and I also stepped down from coaching. I realized immediately that I would have to do something while on sabbatical to bring in additional income, but the question was WHAT? I was NOT looking for It Works! but, it found me, and I am so glad it did!!

Dreaming Bigger Than Ever

It Works! has been heaven sent and has allowed me to not only take care of my family, but to dream bigger than I ever could possibly imagine.

I had planned to work for 30+ years and then retire, thankfully my reality changed. I learned that, sometimes dreams have to die in order for new dreams to be born. Whether your dream is something you simply want or something you feel God has given you a vision for, hold on to that dream loosely. I call it living in surrender and I am so glad I was willing to hold on to my dreams loosely, because in doing so, we are, today, living beyond anything we could have asked for or imagined for.

When I was coaching basketball, my strength was putting people in the right positions on the court; I’m a talent scout. I have used that same skill set today with what I do with It Works! I have used my unique gifts to build a multi-million dollar business and have helped many of my friends and family to do the same.

It’s funny to look back at the last decade… I simply wanted an income of a couple thousand dollars a month to allow me to be home with my babies. I did that in about 18 months, and it has become so much more than I ever thought possible, and I’m so excited to share with you what I have learned along the way.

I joined the direct selling industry and specifically partnered with It Works! because my family needed the income. We honestly felt stuck without any solutions. Today I see the journey that I have been on as a divine opportunity to fulfill my calling. I don’t know what you are being called to, or what an extra $500 a month might do for you or your family. I don’t know what your destiny is, but I know that as we placed our Hope in Jesus to guide us toward our destiny, we found hope in this vehicle of Direct Sales, and a home with It Works!

Today I am still teaching, but a totally different subject. Rather than math or language arts or how to shoot a free-throw, I’m teaching others how to take control of their lives and finances through this industry. I truly believe if you are not placing your hope in Christ, we must begin there, but then we know we have a message… A message that the world needs to hear!

I am a full time MOMMY. You may have no desire to retire from your job or be a full time family… I know I didn’t. It wasn’t something I could have fathomed, but it has become my reality. At the end of the day we didn’t have many choices, but I was certainly hungry for something different. It Works! has given me choices. Isn’t that what it’s all about after all? I have complete control over my time and I have the finances to take crazy adventures, as well as give back in ways I could have never fathomed ten years ago. My family is living proof that you absolutely CAN pursue your personal passions and calling through direct sales.

God has blessed me, and blessed me INDEED! I have come to understand that all I have is given from Him. This understanding gives me the desire to be a good steward of all that God has given me, and not just of the money He has blessed me with, but also the spiritual gifts and talents I feel He built within me. I really enjoy giving back! What a blessing it is to be able to financially support Christian organizations that bring Glory to God’s Kingdom. How rewarding it is to let Christ speak through my gifts and talents by sharing the Gospel.

There are two organizations in particular that God has both laid on my heart and used to bring healing and freedom to my family and personal life. These organizations share the love of Christ and teach the Grace found in the Gospel.

Timbali Crafts

Timbali started in 2006 (a bit by accident!) to reach out to the physical and spiritual needs of the hard-working women of Swaziland, Africa. At the request of a local pastor, Timbali started a Bible study with some of the women to encourage them in their volunteer work. It quickly became evident that something more needed to be done so that these ladies, who were serving their communities in such a vital way, could also provide for their own families.

Never The Same

As an official 2015 board member of Never The Same, I am so excited to bring my experience in teaching and coaching to this Christ-centered organization. With programs like Claim Your Campus and the Eat Dirt Mud Run, I’m thrilled to be a part of this and everything they stand for. -Kami

From their site:

“Never The Same” is a movement uniting middle school & high school students to love God and change the world in which they live through their faith in Jesus. We focus on helping students experience God, know God, and pray for others.

Swaziland Adventures in Missions

This past year I have adopted two African Carepoints in Swaziland, Africa. My church had sponsored two of these carepoints and I was simply supporting their work as well as the women of Timbali Crafts. In August 2015, the door was opened for me to support my own carepoints, Joyela & Mabantaneni 2 (AKA Maba2). “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27

I am called to take care of the orphans and widows, and I am doing just that in Swaziland. If you want to know more about what this means, check out the attached video. I’m blown away and so humbled to have the means to help invest in the women and children at Joyela and Mabantaneni 2. ‪As I travel to teach and train my team, I am always looking to GIVE BACK in big ways! Thank you for your support and your prayers in advance!
